Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Technician II - Fiber to install, terminate, test, and splice fiber networks across multiple environments. The role requires hands-on experience with fiber hardware, connectors, and testing tools, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to IES standards.

The candidate should have 5–7 years of fiber experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to travel within the branch or regional territory as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency with the listed tools.
• Termination proficiency for SMF/MMF connectors (Unicam/anaerobic/heat‑cure).
• Testing & troubleshooting MMF/SMF (OTDR/PMLS).
• Must meet IES driving standards policy.
• 5–7 years fiber experience preferred.
• Industry certifications (Corning/FOA) preferred.
• Data center installation experience preferred.
• Mechanical and fusion splice experience preferred.
• OSP/Confined Space Entry experience (splicing) preferred.
• Proficient with listed trade tools.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate fiber in various environments.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber networks using OTDR.
• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing.
• Terminate connectors (LC/SC/ST/FC and others).
• Build and label backboards, racks, patch panels, and related hardware.
• Complete IES paperwork accurately and on time.
• Travel within branch/region as needed.
