Job summary

Clearwave Fiber LLC is seeking a results-driven Fiber / Installation Repair Technician to deliver customer delight through technical expertise and strong communication. You will splice, maintain and repair underground, direct bury, and aerial fiber cables, and install telecom services from vault to customer premises.

Responsibilities include testing signal strength, operating OPM and VOM tools, and traveling to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Telecommunications (Fiber Optic, Telephone, CATV) experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees and management.
• Valid driver’s license with history of safe driving record.
• Knowledge of current industry terminology, procedures, and equipment preferred.
• Must work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces; tolerate environmental conditions.
• Must be able to work from a ladder using required hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Splices/terminates fiber optic cable according to standard procedure and specifications.
• Maintains, tests, and measures fiber optic signal strength from street to house.
• Installs telecommunications services by identifying and connecting cables at vault/tap and customer premises.
• Installs inside wiring and fiber optic equipment at the customer premise; connects wireless devices and tests service.
• Communicates effectively with customers and colleagues; maintains professional relationships.
• Operates hand tools and test equipment including OPM and VOM.
• Maintains vaults and taps; reports maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Travels to sites as necessary via company vehicle; adheres to safety rules.
• Accesses cables by climbing ladders; handles confined spaces and difficult access areas.
