Job summary

Clearwave Fiber in Illinois is seeking a results-driven Fiber Technician to splice, install and repair high-speed data cables. You will work from vaults to customer premises, ensuring quality service and accurate documentation while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2-3 years of telecommunications (Fiber Optic, Telephone, CATV) experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees and management.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Knowledge of industry terminology, procedures, and equipment.
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
• Able to work from a ladder using hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Splices/terminates fiber optic cable according to procedures.
• Maintains and tests fiber signal strength from street to house.
• Installs services by wiring, vault/tap, and customer premise.
• Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers.
• Operates hand tools and test equipment (OPM, VOM).
• Maintains vaults and taps; reports maintenance.
• Travels to sites via company vehicle.
• Accesses cables by climbing ladders and entering crawl spaces.
• Maintains equipment, tools and vehicles; handles time and material records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
