Job summary

Dickson Electric System is seeking a Fiber Tech to install and maintain fiber lines and related equipment for Ignite Broadband and the DES network. You will handle mainline fiber construction, indoor wiring, and customer premises deployments, ensuring high-quality connections and safety compliance.

The role requires knowledge of fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and equipment operation, with travel to various sites and adherence to industry standards. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 5 years’ telecom experience, preferably in fiber construction and installing drops.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic splicing (fusion and mechanical).
• Ability to distinguish colors and depth perception.
• Proficient with bucket trucks, ladders, and field equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs fiber line equipment and apparatus.
• Constructs and maintains mainline fiber, including aerial/underground cables.
• Installs and repairs fiber drops for residential and commercial premises.
• Configures inside wiring and network equipment for data, voice, and video.
• Collaborates with engineering on network design and upgrades.
• Responds to outages and performs field maintenance to restore service.
