Job summary

Responsibilities include splicing, testing, and installing CAT-V equipment, ensuring proper safety practices, and collaborating with the team across Alaska and beyond.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret work orders, specifications and drawings to determine work to be done in sequence of tasks.
• Repair or splice in new lines to complete testing and certification.
• Install passive and active devices, pedestals, vaults and splice cases per customer requirements.
• Test fiber lines for balanced signal, continuity and fault.
• Read site plans and prints needed to support project(s).
• Optimize nodes and splice in nodes to reduce capacity.
• Safely operate bucket trucks and climb utility poles to place cables.
• Complete production sheets, verify proper levels after activation, and troubleshoot as necessary.
• Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Understand and adhere to company safety protocols and policies.

EssentialFunctions

• Ensurepropersafetytechniquesandincidentreportingproceduresarefollowed.
• Makeadjustmentsonswitches,relays,andotherelectricalcontroldevicesformaximumoperatingefficiency.
• Understandandadheretocompanysafetyprotocolsandpolicies
• Useandunderstandautomateddispatchequipment(i.e.,handheldterminals),andappropriatetestequipmenttoverifyproperinstallationand/orrepair
• TheFiberOpticTechnicianwillfrequentlyworkincoldorhottemperaturesandatheightsover15feet
• TheFiberOpticTechnicianwillalsoworknearpowerlinesandelectricity,aswellasworkandtravelininclementweather
