Forged Fiber is hiring a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across our network in Provo, UT. You will work with OTDRs, power meters, and splicing equipment to ensure high-quality, reliable fiber links.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license & safe driving history.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent training.
• Practical knowledge of fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers & inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, maps & permits; strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to collaborate with teams and contractors.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) for field docs & work orders.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment & prioritize tasks.
• Work outdoors in all weather & varied terrain.
• Able to work in confined spaces with safety practices; climb and work at heights.
• Physically demanding work: standing/walking, lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime, nights, weekends, standby rotation, and call-outs.
• Completion of employment assessments and background screening.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice (single/multi/fiber ribbon), and test fiber for construction projects.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults with OTDR, power meter, fiber identifiers; document test results.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial, buried, and manhole setups.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing; complete routine repairs to restore service.
• Place and test jumpers in cabinets; conduct fiber panel/case audits.
• Complete aerial and underground work including manhole tasks and safety checks.
• Read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, maps, diagrams, and permits.
• Coordinate with construction teams and engineers to resolve outages; provide field splicing reports.
• Use company devices for work orders, diagnostics, and documentation.
• Adhere to quality control, OSHA and regulatory requirements; conduct test/turnup of OLT work as needed.
