Job summary

Forged Fiber seeks a skilled Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction, maintenance, and restoration projects in Leesburg, FL. You will work with OTDR, optical power meters, and related tools while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires reading construction diagrams, coordinating with contractors and engineers, and performing on-site installs both above and below ground. Strong teamwork and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Strong reading of construction prints, splice diagrams, design maps, diagrams, and permits.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams and agencies.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) for field documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR and other test equipment; document results.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial and underground work.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing; complete routine repairs to restore service.
• Coordinate with crews and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules; provide field splicing reports.
