Job summary

Forged Fiber is hiring a Fiber Tech II – Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across our networks. You will work on construction, maintenance, and restoration projects, using OTDRs, power meters, and splicing equipment to ensure high-quality results.

This full-time, on-site role requires reading prints, following safety rules, and coordinating with crews to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects, including maintenance and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, scope; document tests and results.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial, buried, and manhole installations.
• Perform testing (dark fiber, continuity) and ensure route integrity.
• Read plans and create AS-Builts; coordinate with crews to resolve outages and meet schedules.
