Job summary

Forged Fiber in Winter Park, FL is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction, maintenance, and restoration across our network. You will work on-site with safety standards and documentation.

The role requires hands-on use of fusion splicers, OTDRs, optical power meters, and fiber identifiers; ability to read prints and diagrams; and outdoor work in all weather, with lifting up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, inspection scope.
• Ability to read/interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps with attention to detail.
• Strong written/verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR, power meter, and fault finder; document results.
• Prepare, install, and audit splice cases/enclosures across aerial and underground deployments.
• Perform dark fiber, reel, and continuity testing; restore service as needed.
• Read construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps to complete work accurately.
• Coordinate with crews/contractors to resolve outages and meet schedules.
