Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction and maintenance projects in West Valley, UT. You will work outdoors, read construction docs, and coordinate with crews to ensure on‑time restoration and service reliability.

Role requires 2+ years of splicing/OSP experience, proficiency with fusion splicer and OTDR, and ability to work in variable conditions, including heights and confined spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with good driving record.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside‑plant experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps; strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of collaborating with teams and agencies.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and field documentation tools.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather, in confined spaces, and at heights.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and test fiber optic cable for construction projects and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR and meters; document test results.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial, buried, and manhole environments.
• Perform testing and routine repairs to restore service and maintain route integrity.
• Coordinate with construction crews, contractors, and partners; provide field splicing reports.
