Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across infrastructure projects. You will work outdoors, often at heights, coordinating with crews to restore services efficiently. Emphasis on safety, documentation, and quality control.

The role requires 2+ years in fiber splicing, proficiency with OTDR and fusion splicers, and the ability to interpret construction prints. Overtime and on-call duties are common in this field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer and testing tools (OTDR, power meter).
• Ability to read construction prints and diagrams; strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate.
• Basic computer skills and field documentation tools.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and varied terrain.
• Ability to work in confined spaces with safety practices.
• Ability to climb to heights exceeding 18 feet.
• Physically demanding: standing, lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, on-call.
• Background screening/baseline checks.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and test fiber cables for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, and inspection tools.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial and underground settings.
• Perform testing and audits to maintain route integrity and service.
• Coordinate with crews and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules.
• Read prints, splice diagrams, and maps to complete work accurately.
• Document field activities and generate reports as required.
