Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, certify, and repair our fiber optic network. This role involves field-based work, customer interaction, and on-call support for 24/7/365 operations, ensuring high-quality service across residential and commercial sites.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in telecommunications, proficiency with OTDR and PON meters, and the ability to lift equipment and work in various environments. Local residency in St. Petersburg, FL is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of telecommunications experience required, with strong fiber splicing and OSP knowledge.
• Proficiency with OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, and toners.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with clean MVR and be able to drive in various conditions.
• Computer skills including MS Excel and Word for trouble tickets and reporting.
• Must have good vision and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
• Availability for 24/7/365 operations, including on-call rotations and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber optic drops and pigtails using a core-alignment splicing machine.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot OSP distribution fiber through to end user.
• Handle customer premises work from single-family homes to MDUs with professionalism.
• Use OTDR, PON meters, volt/ohm meters, toners to test, certify, and validate IQ Fiber services.
• Respond quickly to outages and stay in service until resolved; participate in on-call shifts.
• Perform contractor QA checks to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
• Maintain equipment, vehicle cleanliness, and wear IQ Fiber branded clothing.
• Support emergency schedules during disasters and network outages; overtime as needed.
