Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Fiber Splicer to install, splice, test, certify, and repair IQ Fiber’s fiber optic network. This role is about 90% field-based, interfacing with customers during installation and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

The Fiber Splicer will operate OTDR and PON meters, maintain safety and QA standards, and support emergency responses during outages. On-call availability includes after-hours and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of telecommunications experience with fiber splicing and OSP work.
• Proficiency with optical test equipment and core alignment splicing.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR and night driving ability.
• Computer skills to process trouble tickets; familiarity with Excel and Word.
• Good depth perception, color vision, manual dexterity, and physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber drops and pigtails and repair underground runs as needed.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot OSP fiber from hub to end user.
• Install splitter cabinets, patch panels, and NIDs; ensure safety and quality.
• Test and certify services using OTDR, PON meters, and volt/ohm meters.
• Respond to outages, stay in service during on-call periods, and perform QA checks.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in residential and commercial settings.
