Job summary

Ervin Cable Construction, LLC is seeking a Fiber Splicer II for on-site field work in the United States. You will fuse optical fibers to maintain our telecom networks, performing both aerial and underground splicing, testing and troubleshooting post-installation circuits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

You will also upgrade fiber sheaths, assist junior splicers, and complete daily vehicle maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver’s license with clean record.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam for a valid medical card.
• At least two years of fiber splicing experience.
• Pole climber certification or ability to demonstrate proficiency preferred.
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new fiber sheaths.
• Mid-sheath fibers for entry on loose tube or fiber sheaths.
• Cut away sheath to reach faulty connections and remove insulation from installed cables.
• Provide guidance to other splicers as needed.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles and document work with daily production reports.
