Job summary

Kanaan Communications, LLC is seeking a Fiber Splicer II to join our field operations in Morgantown, WV. You will perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground, ensuring reliable network connections and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities include testing and troubleshooting post-installation circuits, maintaining documentation, and mentoring fellow splicers. A valid driver's license and DOT medical clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must pass a DOT medical exam and possess a valid medical card.
• At least two years of fiber splicing experience.
• Certified pole climber or ability to demonstrate proficiency preferred.
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network's circuit post-installation.
• Ensure splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Upgrade existing fiber sheaths with new fiber sheaths.
• Mid-sheath fibers for entry on loose tube or fiber sheaths.
• Cut away the sheath from existing cables to reach faulty connections, and remove the sheath and insulation from newly installed cables and wires.
• Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks.
• Document work performed through daily production reports.
• Other duties as assigned
