Job summary

Vero Broadband is seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our Outside Plant team in the California market. The role involves installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables for FTTH networks and requires field work, occasional indoor tasks, and travel to various sites.

You will work with OTDRs, power meters, and fiber identifiers to ensure high-performance connections. Responsibilities include preparing and fusion-splicing fiber, terminating jumpers, testing in cabinets and enclosures, and

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of fiber splicing experience preferred.
• Proficient with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR.
• Strong understanding of safety construction practices.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables
• Place and test jumpers in communication cabinets
• Dress aerial and underground cabling and place mid-sheath splices & butt splices
• Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope
• Perform installation and testing of fiber cross connects
• Work flexible hours as needed and on-call rotation which may include nights and weekends
• Work with Project Manager, Construction Manager and Fiber Engineer to perform splicing as directed
• Train on and safely operate bucket truck with supervision
• Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision
• Other duties as assigned
