Job summary

Vast Networks is seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our California Central Valley team. The role involves splicing fiber optic cables in outdoor and indoor environments, and reading, creating and maintaining splicing schematics and diagrams to support project timelines.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, about 3 years of fiber splicing experience, and be proficient with MS Office. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years of fiber splicing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow engineering design maps.
• Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber optic cables including loose tube and ribbon cables.
• Construct splices with grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing.
• Perform work in accordance with TIA and customer standards.
• Enter and maintain splice enclosures and field notes.
• Install fiber in new and existing conduit; terminate, test, and troubleshoot networks.
• Test using OTDR and troubleshoot fiber networks.
• Maintain safety practices and incident reporting.
