Job summary

Vero Broadband in California is seeking a Fiber Splicer to support FTTH deployments. The role covers installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables, with both field and indoor work in handholes, pedestals, enclosures, and cabinets.

The technician will handle single-mode/multi-mode fiber and conduct OTDR testing to ensure high performance connections. Responsibilities include splicing, testing, cabling, and following safety standards, with travel and on-call hours.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in fiber splicing (Preferred).
• Proficient with fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.

Responsibilities

• Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables.
• Place and test jumpers in communication cabinets.
• Dress aerial and underground cabling and place splices.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber using OTDR and power meter.
• Install and test fiber cross connects.
• Work flexible hours and on-call rotation (nights/weekends).
• Coordinate with Project Manager and Fiber Engineer on splicing.
• Operate bucket truck with supervision.
• Maintain safety and high productivity with minimal supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
