Job summary

CEC Facilities Group seeks a fiber optic splice technician to splice and test cables in aerial, underground, and indoor field environments. Attention to splice locations, termination points, and safety is essential for quality work.

You will work with OTDR, OLTS, and power meters, join on-call rotations, and travel to customer sites. A valid driver's license and fiber construction experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of fiber splicing and testing experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience with NMS and fiber construction is a plus.
• Base station equipment and outside plant knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Splice and test fiber optic cables on new construction and restoration projects.
• Validate testing per equipment specifications and provisioning/alarm checks.
• Coordinate with NOC for acceptance and testing of installed equipment.
• Perform site surveys to ensure quality installation of racks and cabling.
• Maintain splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results records.
• Travel to customer sites; participate in on-call nights and weekends.
• Wear PPE and work in a heavy construction environment.
