Job summary

CEC Facilities Group is seeking motivated individuals to splice and test fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environments. The role requires attention to splice locations, termination points, quality, and safety compliance.

You will work with OTDR, OLTS, and power meters, perform site surveys, and coordinate with the Network Operations Center for testing and acceptance. Some travel and on-call shifts are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 1+ years in splicing, testing, installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks or 2+ years field experience.
• Experience with base station equipment, NMS, and fiber construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Splice on new construction and restoration projects for various cable types.
• Test network equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Coordinate with Network Operations Center for acceptance and testing.
• Operate fiber optic test equipment (OTDR, OLTS, power meters, visual fault locator).
• Conduct site surveys for quality installations and report defects.
• Maintain splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results.
• Work on-call nights and weekends as required.
• Travel to customer/project sites and work near heavy equipment.
