Job summary

MasTec Communications Group in the United States is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks, test and troubleshoot, and work safely on outdoor utility sites.

You will operate fusion splicers, OTDRs, and testing equipment, prep splice enclosures, work with various shifts and overtime, and contribute to a team focused on quality and reliability. Compensation is $25-$35 per hour with benefits.

Responsibilities

• Use fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter, and related testing gear.
• Understand fiber design, reading docs, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $25-$35 per hour.
