Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility environments. You will test, troubleshoot, and deploy splice enclosures using fusion splicers and OTDR equipment, interpreting drawings and maintaining high quality standards.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in fiber splicing, enjoy hands-on teamwork, and are comfortable with ladders or bucket trucks. This role offers long-term projects and a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks.
  • Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
  • Utilize a fusion splicer, test equipment, OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
  • Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
  • Work in outdoor utility construction sites

In Addition, You Will
