Job summary

MasTec Communications Group in Tampa, FL is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to build and maintain end-to-end fiber optic networks. You will join a safety-focused team dedicated to high-quality workmanship and reliable service delivery.

Responsibilities include testing continuity, operating fusion splicer and OTDR equipment, and preparing splice enclosures. Outdoor field work, climbing ladders or bucket trucks, and overtime shifts are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Able to work on ladders or bucket trucks.
• Willing to work variable shifts with overtime.
• Safety-focused with quality workmanship.
• Outdoor utility construction site experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
• Test and troubleshoot continuity of fiber networks.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
