Job summary

MasTec Communications Group seeks a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility environments. You’ll test continuity, operate fusion splicers and OTDR equipment, and prep splice enclosures for Tyco, CommScope, and Corning.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to handle ladders or bucket trucks. Overtime and long-term projects are expected.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $75,000-$125,000 annually.
