Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility sites. You will test continuity, operate fusion splicer and OTDR equipment, and prep splice enclosures from major suppliers.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of fiber splicing experience, a safety-first mindset, and a hands-on approach. This full-time role offers competitive pay and benefits, with opportunities on long-term projects.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Qualifications

• You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $25-$40 per hour.
