Job summary

Uniti Group Inc. is seeking a Construction Tech - Splicer to splice fiber optic and copper cables in outdoor and indoor environments. The role involves reading schematics, maintaining splice records, and ensuring safety on job sites.

Travel may exceed 50% of the year and overtime may be required. Ideal candidates have 1 year of splicing experience or a related trade school certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain CDL and pass DOT screenings.

Qualifications

• 1 year of copper and/or fiber splicing experience or related Trade School certification in-lieu of one year of experience.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, year-round.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to work on-call schedule rotation and overtime as needed.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL eligibility required.
• Ability to pass DOT certification.
• Ability to travel extensively.
• Exceptional time-management and attention to detail for paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Splice cables using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret staking sheets and blueprints.
• Follow industry standards and safety procedures for RUS designs.
• Prepare field notes, schematics, and diagrams; document splice locations.
• Support engineering, permit, and construction processes as needed.
• Measure signal strength at utility poles with test equipment.
• Inspect lines or cables and record test results to locate faults.
• Perform routine maintenance and site housekeeping tasks.
• Carry out outside plant construction tasks as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
