Job summary

Uniti is seeking a Splicer on the construction team to splice fiber optic and copper cables both indoors and outdoors. The role involves reading schematics, maintaining OSP activities, and ensuring safety on-site. Travel up to 50% may be required, with weekend and overtime work as needed.

Responsibilities include splicing with hand tools, interpreting blueprints, and maintaining splice records. The position demands strong time management, endurance for rough weather, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions year-round.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• On-call schedule rotation including weekends/holidays/overtime.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL post-hire.
• Ability to pass DOT certification pre-hire.
• Travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Splice cables using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
• Splice fiber optic and copper cables, construct splice cases, and maintain records.
• Interpret staking sheets and blueprints; adhere to safety procedures.
• Prepare engineering field notes and interpret buried telecom facilities.
• Participate in engineering, permit and construction processes.
• Measure signal strength at utility poles using electronic test equipment.
