Job summary

Gateway Fiber is seeking a Fiber Optic Installation Technician in Fridley, MN to inspect, connect, and deploy our fiber network for residential and business customers. You will work in a fast-paced environment, focusing on quality, safety, and customer experience.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and a willingness to learn. The role includes on-site installation, documentation, and collaboration with dispatch as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; required.
• Valid Class E driver's license; required.
• Stand and walk up to eight hours per day, climb stairs while carrying 40–60 lbs.
• Ride in a vehicle up to four hours per day; travel to job locations.
• Knowledge of 802.11 Wireless Networking installation & troubleshooting; preferred.
• Basic TCP/IP configuration & troubleshooting; preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Flexibility to work in different weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Terminating fiber optic cables.
• Augmenting existing network installations.
• Installing fiber optic connections to homes, businesses and enterprise buildings.
• Network documentation.
• Audit & inspection of newly completed network construction.
• Repair of damaged infrastructure.
• Deployment of additional network cabinet / node sites.
• Provide an exceptional Gateway Fiber experience to the customer.
• Notify dispatch and leaders about issues inhibiting work and assist with repairs.
