Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Fiber Optic Field Support Specialist – Part-Time to train customers, support installations, and gather feedback across CA/NV. The role requires hands-on fiber optic expertise, strong communication, and travel up to 50% of the time.

You will educate customers on installation best practices, perform field testing, and support demonstrations while promoting Corning Optical Communications quality policies.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Fiber Optics.
• Possess a driver's license and be insurable.
• Work independently with little or no supervision.
• Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.
• Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.

Responsibilities

• Provide after the sale training and field support of fiber optic cable and hardware installations (Inside Plant and Outside Plant).
• Actively pursue competitive information and report back to Sales.
• Support field trials and product evaluations for fiber optic cable and hardware installations.
• Support Sales demonstrations/presentations and trade shows.
• Support Data Center and FTTH installations.
• Perform training, troubleshooting and field support for fiber optic installations.
• Teach Tier 1 (light source and power meter) and Tier 2 (OTDR) fiber optic field testing applications.
• Instruct fiber optic installation classes up to 25 students as a qualified instructor or a technical assistant.
