Job summary

IdeaTek in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Fiber Technician to support field operations, perform fiber splicing, and maintain our fiber network. You will deliver technical excellence and strong customer service in outdoor environments.

Expect to work outdoors in varying weather, operate a bucket truck, and participate in on-call rotations. Compensation and benefits are commensurate with experience and include a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of field-based technical experience.
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to work in underground and aerial environments.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must lift up to 80 lbs.
• Able to operate a bucket truck with a 300 lb weight limit.
• Flexible schedule including Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Successful completion of DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber splicing in outdoor conditions for aerial and underground networks.
• Maintain accurate splicing schematics and field notes to meet timelines.
• Execute FTTH installations and service drops from terminal to customer locations.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and VoIP service issues for residential and business customers.
• Conduct quality inspections of new plant construction.
• Deliver excellent customer service for FTTP, gateways, and WiFi setups.
• Follow safety protocols and DOT/OSHA standards.
