Job summary

Project Resources Group, Inc. in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking an experienced Fiber Designer to redesign fiber optic OSP infrastructure impacted by third-party construction and municipal projects. The role blends hands-on design with coordination across field and construction teams to keep relocations moving.

You will handle design tasks, review relocation notices, and support agency meetings. Strong FTTH/OSP experience plus GIS and AutoCAD tools are required, with onsite presence in Salt Lake

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least three years of FTTH infrastructure and OSP design experience including conflict resolution, relocation, repair, or municipal/DOT coordination.
  • Expertise with OSP design tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, 3-GIS, Vetro, Arc/Esri, or GIS systems.
  • Experience interpreting government, municipal, or agency construction plans to identify utility conflicts and required design changes.
  • Experience with permitting processes, ROW/easement requirements, tracker management, and coordination with agencies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage data, documentation, and multiple project priorities accurately.
  • Experience supporting city, agency, or utility coordination meetings related to forced relocation and infrastructure conflicts.
  • Familiarity with GIS workflows and repair/relocation documentation processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of OSP architectures, fiber splicing techniques, and overall fiber network design.
  • Familiarity with ISP/MDU design and applying that knowledge as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace for documentation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering designs for repairs, relocations, and special work affecting fiber OSP infrastructure (aerial, underground, micro-trenching, boring).
  • Review relocation notices, agency plans, and conflict reports to determine scope and impacts.
  • Support engineering by monitoring communications, field questions, and project needs.
  • Maintain and update project trackers with information from municipalities, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Attend city, agency, and utility coordination meetings to review plans and relocation requirements.
  • Coordinate design sequencing with field and construction teams to avoid delays.
  • Maintain as-built documentation reflecting final relocation work for records.
  • Support process improvements to enhance design quality and responsiveness.
