Fiber Construction Project Manager

Position Overview

You've managed Fiber to the Home (FTTH) builds before, so you know what's at stake: a community counting on a fiber network for years to come. As our Fiber Construction Project Manager, you'll own those builds across your market from first plan to final invoice, handing out work to crews and subcontractors, coaching your outside plant (OSP) Engineers, and keeping every job on schedule, on budget, and billed right.

Some days you're walking job sites, checking progress and clearing roadblocks with clients and cities. Other days you're at your desk with the numbers. Expect to spend a lot of time in spreadsheets and trackers, keeping work in progress (WIP) tied to budget, approving invoices, and making sure every change order gets billed. Safety comes first on every project, and you set that standard.

This role is for someone with 5+ years in OSP telecom who knows fiber prints, underground drilling, and aerial placement, and has spent at least 2 years managing projects and the budgets behind them. You don't just know what got built today. You know what it cost and where the job stands. If that's how you already work, this one's yours to run.

Quick Facts
  • Location: Job sites in Issaquah, Federal Way, and surrounding areas of Western Washington
  • Salary: $80,200 – $100,000 per year
  • Shift/Schedule: Monday through Friday, typically 8 to 10 hours a day, with occasional evenings or weekends as project needs require
Responsibilities
  • Plan and distribute work to internal and subcontractor field crews, coordinating across operational teams to get projects built within required timelines
  • Manage the day-to-day work of OSP Engineers (direct reports) and provide ongoing coaching and training in the field
  • Keep projects on budget, track work in progress (WIP) against each budget, and verify and approve accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) invoices against the project budget
  • Capture all field change orders and make sure billing is accurate, detailed, and completed on time so additional work becomes realized revenue
  • Maintain project timelines according to client expectations
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients, subcontractors, managers, colleagues, and municipalities to remove obstacles and complete projects to client specifications and within timeline
  • Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are followed on every project
  • Other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications experience, with a solid understanding of fiber blueprints, underground drilling, and aerial placement
  • 2+ years of project management experience, including managing project budgets
  • Ability to read and interpret utility plans and general contracts
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to build and maintain spreadsheets, trackers, and dashboards for budgets, timelines, materials, and footages across multiple projects, plus working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Sitetracker, Salesforce, or similar project or client management software
  • Ability to train, delegate, and proactively manage the work of others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the interpersonal and influencing skills to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization and with external clients and partners
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites across your market
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sitetracker or Salesforce specifically
  • Supervisory or project management experience on FTTH builds
  • Familiarity with Quickbase or Fieldwire, the tools we use for project tracking and field documentation

This position requires successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review, as applicable.
