Job summary

GTS in Canton, GA is seeking a Drop Bury Technician to install and maintain buried broadband fiber optic or coaxial cables at residential, commercial, and business sites. You will operate utility locators, mark lines, and support safe trenching.

Responsibilities include reading layouts, trenching equipment operation, bore logs, blueprint interpretation, restoring lawns, and performing related duties. A high school diploma or GED is required; utility locating experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in utility locating is preferred but not required.
• Able to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and plans.

Responsibilities

• Operate utility locator and mark utility lines (paint lines or flags) for safe trenching.
• Read and interpret job layout, valves, meters and locate existing utilities.
• Operate trenching equipment; lay ductwork, pull cable, bore driveways and sidewalks.
• Maintain bore logs and document field work.
• Read and interpret construction plans and material requirements.
• Restore lawns, sidewalks and landscaping after work to original condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
