Job summary

TDS Telecommunications Corporation is seeking a Broadband Technician I to perform basic installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers. You will handle video and data services, troubleshoot from tap to customer equipment, and assist with fiber/copper installation across aerial, buried, or underground lines from the warehouse in Carlsbad, NM.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs.
• Background check may be required by the customer.
• On-call/standby responsibilities and possible travel.
• Must pass Safety Course curriculum.
• DOT requirements for operating vehicle >10,000 lbs.
• Reliable, team-oriented with good communications.
• Familiarity with company products and services.
• Ability to dig, lift and climb as needed.
• SCTE Broadband Premise Install test within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform connects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocates.
• Install additional outlets and equipment from tap to customer premises.
• Ensure proper signal levels and picture quality on TV sets.
• Monitor system drops and in-house leakage; record information on work orders.
• Promote company services and educate customers on usage and add-ons.
• Maintain and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
• Complete duties as requested by supervisor.
