Job summary

TDS Telecom is seeking a Broadband Technician III to perform highly complex installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential and business customers, including FTTH and PON/Metro E support. The role involves advanced troubleshooting from the tap to customer devices and requires travel within a 60-minute radius of the Berthoud, CO warehouse.

The position emphasizes safety, quality control, and customer education, with on-call duties and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 2+ years technical telecommunications experience or current/prior military service with honorable discharge.
• 1+ year of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex installation of all necessary cable wiring from the tap to the customer’s equipment for reception of cable and other company services for single, multi-family, and/or commercial dwellings.
• Performs connects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, and relocates; installs outlets, fiber connections, and equipment changes.
• Complies with quality control guidelines and applicable regulations (OSHA, FCC NEC, NESC).
• Tests equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensures optimum reception using appropriate test tools.
• Monitors and records system data and communicates findings on work orders and surveys.
• Educates customers about service usage and opportunities to add additional services.
