Job summary

TDK/Headway Technologies, Inc. in Milpitas, CA seeks a FIB/SEM Engineer to perform sophisticated material characterizations and failure analyses of device structures.

You will prepare TEM lamella samples, execute high-resolution SEM/STEM imaging, and contribute to metrology and process improvements for magnetic recording technology. The role requires a Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Physics (or equivalent experience) and strong FIB/SEM/EDS skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Physics or BSc with 3+ years’ experience.
• Strong knowledge of TEM lamella prep and FIB/SEM fundamentals.
• Experience with metrology and materials/failure analyses for magnetic recording tech.

Responsibilities

• Prepare TEM lamella samples and perform FIB/SEM analyses.
• Image device cross-sections and conduct high-resolution SEM/STEM metrology.
• Perform failure analysis using FIB/SEM with EDS; analyze data and report findings.
• Develop new sample-prep recipes; present results to teams.
