Probity Inc. is seeking an Operations Engineer to provide Tier 2 IT support for cross-domain systems, ensuring reliable data flow and system performance. The role emphasizes monitoring, incident handling, automation, and collaboration with engineering and SecDevOps teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in IT operations, strong Linux server experience, and excellent communication skills to translate technical issues for stakeholders. An active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the performance and health of all servers, network devices, and applications using monitoring tools; notify the Infrastructure team for maintenance and updates.
• Act as primary responder for IT incidents and outages; diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network and data flow issues.
• Identify opportunities to automate routine operational tasks; develop scripts and use configuration management tools.
• Collaborate with mission partners, development, SecDevOps, and other cross-functional teams; maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and incident reports.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support for critical incidents.

Description:

The Operations Engineer (OE) provides technical support for the enterprise cross domain system. This role is crucial for maintaining the backbone of our customer’s operations, ensuring all systems run smoothly and efficiently. The OE will provide Tier 2 level IT support, specific to cross domain systems and data flow management, helping to foster communication between our mission partners and our Engineering and Data Flow Operations teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitor the performance and health of all servers, network devices, and applications using monitoring tools. Notify Infrastructure team if maintenance, patching, or updates are required to ensure system security and stability
• Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Act as a primary responder for IT incidents and outages. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network and data flow issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime
• Automation and Tooling: Identify opportunities to automate routine operational tasks. Develop scripts and use configuration management tools to improve efficiency and consistency
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with mission partners, development, SecDevOps, and other cross-functional teams. Maintain clear and current documentation for procedures, configurations, and incident reports
• On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support for critical incidents

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or a similar role
• Operating Systems: Proficiency in managing Linux server environments
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
• Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders

Desired Skills:

• Scripting: Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python, for automation purposes
• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud service provider (e.g., AWS, Azure)

Desired Education:

• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR Computer Systems Engineering. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education
