The ideal candidate has extensive Linux and virtualization experience, hands-on automation skills with Ansible/PowerShell, and familiarity with container tech such as Docker and Kubernetes. Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain and secure cross-domain server and network infrastructure.
• Build, deploy, patch, and maintain physical/virtual servers in server rooms.
• Administer Linux (RHEL/Rocky) and virtualization platforms; troubleshoot end-to-end.

Job Description:

The Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator encompasses network and server administration in an existing Cross Domain environment. Activities will be concentrated on all aspects of the product development life cycle that are consistent with creating, implementing, and supporting existing and new features and product capabilities in client/server applications while improving data processing methods to ensure highest levels of information system security.

Required Skills:

• Experience building physical and virtual servers, implementing/developing configurations, testing, deploying, and coordinating baseline deployments, including coordinating the installation and maintenance of equipment hosted in a server room environment.
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Red Hat and/or Rocky Linux
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience with VMWare vCenter/vSphere or an equivalent virtualization solution (Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization)
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience with automation tools and scripting (Ansible, PowerCLI, Powershell, and Bash Shell Scripts)
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience performing standard IT infrastructure maintenance tasks, including patching, deployment, and configuration utilizing automation tools.
• Familiarity with LDAP, Kerberos, NFS, and SELinux Policies.
• Experienced troubleshooting end-to-end system issues, including Linux, VMware and enterprise storage issues.
• Ability to discuss Linux OS topics in detail, including access control, least privilege, and separation of duties.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/UDP, Routing, Switching, MTU)
• Experience working in a demanding critical up-time environment, including communicating with internal and external customers and working with other engineering groups to maintain up-time.
• Experience performing technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for supported services, including server hardware.
• Demonstrated on-the-job experience developing and maintaining technical documentation to include, but not limited to, deployment checklists, administrators’ guides, and deployment verification procedures.

Desired Skills:

• Ability to learn new skills, including development tools and administration tools as needed.
• Familiar with emerging trends, tools, and technologies that may be used to improve sponsor systems and methodologies.
• Experience utilizing devops tools for automation, collaboration and change management
• Willing to respond on-call if needed on a rotation basis
• Familiarity with the sponsor operating environment strongly desired.
