Job summary

Duke Fertility Center, part of Duke Health, seeks an Embryologist in Morrisville, NC to coordinate and participate in complex Assisted Reproduction duties, including semen testing, oocyte retrievals, embryo culture, biopsy, transfers and cryopreservation, while maintaining lab standards.

The role involves monitoring and improving quality control, developing testing methods, and mentoring technicians, fellows, and residents in laboratory techniques. Day shifts offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of clinical/research experience in a reproductive lab or andrology lab.
• Bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, biochemistry or related field is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• RI Witness and Babysentry experience are preferred.
• Certification as Technical Supervisor in Andrology and Embryology by ABBA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in semen testing, processing, oocyte retrievals, insemination, embryo culture, biopsy, transfer and cryopreservation; perform fertilization assessment and maintain cultures.
• Perform advanced reproductive biology procedures and ensure quality control of testing procedures.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintain records for the laboratory director.
• Assist in developing and implementing testing methods; set up equipment and standardize reagents.
• Prepare reports and analyses; liaise between the laboratory and physicians and clinic personnel.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians, fellows, residents, students, and others in laboratory techniques.
• Maintain inventory of materials and reorder as required; perform other related duties.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Related Field

Master's degree preferred

RI Witness experience preferred

Babysentry experience preferred

ABBA Technical Supervisor certification preferred
