Job summary

The Maine Department of Transportation — Maine State Ferry Service in North Haven, ME seeks a reliable Customer Service Representative to assist the public, sell tickets, and provide schedule and fare information. The role requires outdoor work, weekend shifts, and adherence to safety and security procedures.

Starting pay is $23.03 per hour (Step 7) with potential for full benefit eligibility and seasonal/temporary terms. Must obtain TWIC within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Provides quality customer service and assists the public on ferry, employment, or public services; uses independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Excellent Customer Service: Maintaining a calm, welcoming atmosphere with the public and staff.
• Selling tickets and collecting fares per published tariff; prepare cash reports and deposits.
• Provide schedules, fares, and information to customers in person or by phone.
• Manage vehicle line queues outdoors in all weather.
• Clean/maintain interior and exterior of the terminal.
• Training in security awareness and screening of vehicles and passengers.
• Work weekends and holidays; cover for staff on leave as needed.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisors.
