Job summary

Pick-n-Pull Auto and Truck Dismantlers in Portland, OR, is seeking a Recycling Operations FE Supervisor for the 2nd shift to oversee ferrous processing, shipping, and safety. You will coordinate staff, manage WIP and FG inventory, ensure quality standards, and partner with maintenance and logistics to optimize throughput.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years metal recycling industry experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Thorough knowledge of ferrous materials grading.
• Good judgment, interpersonal communications; self starter; good organizational skills; ability to negotiate; past supervisory experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and equipment are always used and that documentation, inspections, and current practices are in accordance with corporate safety policies, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Creates Health & Safety SOPs with Regional Safety Engineer.
• Ensures all department employees receive timely safety and operational training and that the appropriate documents are prepared.
• Assigns an employee to Safety Committee and attends meetings.
• Monitors safety program to reduce accidents and implements new ideas.
• Directs, evaluates, schedules and coordinates equipment and personnel to support daily ferrous operations.
• Creates and maintains layout for ferrous processing and shipping spaces.
• Submits and implements process improvement suggestions for quality and profitability.
• Submits weekly material backlog reports.
• Evaluates incoming ferrous material against inventory and quality guidelines.
• Prepares Time & Weight Analysis reporting for customer material.
• Trains production personnel on testing equipment.
• Maintains positive inventory control over WIP materials.
• Coordinates material pricing, grading, processing, and shipment.
• Assists dispatcher with scheduling of truck fleet and loading.
• Develops strategic buying programs with commercial operations.
• Observes inventory and collaborates to reduce excess.
