Job summary

Radius Recycling seeks a Recycling Operations FE Supervisor to oversee ferrous processing, inventory control, and shipping coordination. Work with safety, quality and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations and regulatory compliance.

The role demands strong leadership, a high school diploma, and at least 3 years in metal recycling. You will direct staff, manage WIP/FG inventories, and partner with logistics to optimize loading and deliveries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years metal recycling industry experience.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
• Thorough knowledge of ferrous materials grading.
• Good judgment, interpersonal communications; self starter; good organizational skills; ability to negotiate; past supervisory experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and equipment are always used and that documentation, inspections, and current practices comply with safety policies and regulations.
• Creates Health & Safety SOPs with Regional Safety Engineer.
• Ensures all department employees receive safety and operational training and maintains employee files.
• Assigns a Safety Committee member and attends meetings on rotation.
• Monitors safety program to reduce accident frequency and implements new ideas.
• Directs, evaluates, schedules and coordinates equipment and personnel for ferrous operations.
• Creates layout plan for processing/shipping spaces and identifies storage bins and equipment locations.
• Submits process improvement suggestions to improve quality, profitability, or safety.
• Submits weekly material backlog reports to Plant/General Manager.
• Evaluates incoming ferrous material for quality and quantity, maintains inventory control.
• Prepares Time & Weight Analysis reports and validates scale tickets.
• Trains production personnel on testing equipment.
• Coordinates pricing, quotes, grading, processing, sales, and shipment of ferrous products.
• Aids dispatcher with scheduling truck fleet and loading coordination.
• Partners with commercial ops to develop strategic buying programs.
• Observes perpetual inventory and works with commercial ops to manage inventory levels.
• Inspects equipment and submits work orders as needed.
• Maintains tidy and safe work areas.
• Performs special projects as required.
• Monitors exempt and hourly staff levels and HR compliance.
• Reviews direct reports performance and conducts interviews.
• Ensures job descriptions are prepared with HR.
