Job summary

William & Mary’s Advising Center seeks a Fellowship Advisor to guide undergraduates and recent alumni through national fellowship applications. The role blends advising, recruitment, communications, and partnership-building across departments and alumni networks.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic initiatives strengthening the university’s fellowship program, coordinating events, materials, and digital resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in higher education, an Arts & Sciences discipline, or related fields.
• Experience with fellowship or academic advising in higher education.
• Experience with program or event management.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in student-facing support roles within education.

Responsibilities

• Provide student advising and application support for national fellowships.
• Advise on opportunities that cultivate competitive candidates and manage timelines, letters, and materials.
• Review and provide feedback on personal statements, proposals, and resumes.
• Support faculty committees involved in fellowship review and nomination processes.
• Create programming for campus awareness and engagement; manage resources and web content.
• Plan and execute events and partnerships to build fellowship culture and alumni networks.
