Job summary

Bay de Noc Community College is seeking a Federal Work Study student for the Iron Mountain Campus Custodial position for 2026-2027. The role supports cleaning and basic maintenance in classrooms, offices, and common areas, operating within the Facilities Department.

The position offers 10–15 hours per week, aligned with the student’s work-study award, and you will report to the Building Maintenance Manager and the Iron Mountain Campus Custodian.

Qualifications

• Must be a Bay College student enrolled in the work study program.
• Eligibility for work-study is determined after FAFSA is filed.
• You must be degree seeking and enrolled in a minimum of one credit toward the semester.
• You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, classrooms, mail rooms, and common areas.
• Clean and disinfect tables and chairs.
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpeting.
• Shampoo carpets and clean windows.
• Empty trash, recycle bags, and restock cleaning carts.
• Paint and perform light maintenance tasks as needed.
• Lift and move chairs, tables, and other furniture up to 45 pounds.
• Assist with general cleaning duties as assigned.
• Work under the direction of the Building Maintenance Manager and/or Iron Mountain Campus Custodian.

The purpose of the Federal Work-Study Program is to give a student an opportunity to develop skills, gain on-the-job experience for future employment, and give the student flexibility to work around class schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a Bay College student in the work study program to be considered for this position. Eligibility for work-study is determined after you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Work-study requires that you are degree seeking and enrolled in a minimum of one credit that applies towards the semester you are employed.
• You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

• All general cleaning (vacuum, dusting, etc.)
• Restock cleaning carts, and empty trash and recycle bags on your cart.
• Empty trash in hallways and classrooms.
• Empty and sort recycling as needed.
• Paint
• Light maintenance work
• Lift and move chairs, tables, and other furniture up to 45 pounds
• Other Duties as Assigned
