Job summary

AIG in Chicago is seeking a Director of a Federal Workers Compensation claims team to lead Examiners and drive excellence in claims handling with empathy and efficiency.

You will implement policy, mentor staff, ensure reserving and payments are accurate, and work across the organization to meet business goals. Salary for Chicago ranges from $120,000 to $150,000, with a focus on in-office collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven claims adjusting experience with leadership in a technical claims operation and WC handling.
• Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims is preferred.
• Leadership skills in direction setting, change management, customer focus and talent development.
• Analytical skills with strong business acumen and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong (oral / written) communication and interpersonal skills.
• Technical expertise in one or more claim functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Claims Examiners in Federal WC Claims.
• Direct activities to achieve goals following best claims practices.
• Ensure claim file reserving, payments, expenses and recoveries align with guidelines.
• Review open/closed file reviews and other processes.
• Develop and promote a training and career path for the team.
