Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a commercial/industrial Electronic Security Technician for a federal team based at a single site in Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on installation and service of ESS—covering access controls, intrusion, CCTV, and related systems—with a day shift and standard Monday–Friday schedule.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, experience with low voltage security systems, and the ability to read technical drawings. A DoD Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial electronic security systems for low voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV, and digital recording.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, and manuals.
• Strong communication skills, written and oral.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment.
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and service commercial electronic security systems (ESS) including access controls, intrusion, CCTV and digital recording.
• Install security devices per installation plans and codes.
• Assist with security system programming and setup.
• Test equipment operations after installation or repair.
• Coordinate with police/fire and manage emergency notification records.
• May assist with estimates per supervisor directions.
• Provide End-User training.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness on site.
• Perform other duties as required.
