Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Commercial/Industrial Electronic Security Technician to join our federal team in Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on installing and servicing access control, intrusion, and CCTV systems for critical facilities, with a DoD Top Secret clearance required.

Position is based at a single federal site in Norfolk with day shifts and comprehensive benefits. Pay ranges from $25–$38 per hour, negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial security systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals and manuals.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Capable of using hand and power tools for mounting equipment.
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and service electronic security systems (intrusion, access control, CCTV).
• Perform testing to ensure proper operation after installation or repair.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and maintain notification records.
• Assist with system programming and setup as needed.
• Prepare estimates per supervisor directions.
• Provide End-User training and ensure safe work practices.
