Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems in Norfolk, VA seeks a Commercial/Industrial Electronic Security Technician to join its federal team onsite. You will install and service ESS such as access control, intrusion, and CCTV, working on systems like Genetec, Lenel, and others, primarily on one government site.

The role requires reading blueprints and manuals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised or with a team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial security systems (low voltage, intrusion, access control, CCTV).
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and manuals.
• Effective communication skills, written and spoken.
• Capability to use hand and power tools and work in a team or independently.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and service commercial electronic security systems including access control, intrusion, and CCTV.
• Install security devices per installation plans and code guidelines.
• Assist with system programming and setup.
• Test equipment operation and ensure proper function after installation or repair.
• Coordinate with police/fire departments and handle required notifications.
• Assist with estimates and End-User training when needed.
• Practice safety and cleanup on site.
