Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a commercial or industrial Electronic Security Technician to join our federal team in Norfolk, VA. The role focuses on installing and servicing ESS systems including access controls, CCTV, and intrusion detection, at a single federal site with no travel.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, perform testing, and coordinate with emergency services. A DoD Top Secret clearance is required and experience with Genetec, Lenel, or Software House systems is

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing and servicing commercial/industrial security systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs and manuals.
• Effective communication, in writing and speech.
• Capable of using hand and power tools.
• Works well unsupervised and in a team.
• Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and service commercial/industrial ESS (access controls, intrusion, CCTV).
• Install security devices per installation plan and NEC guidelines.
• Assist with security system programming and setup.
• Test equipment after installation or repair to ensure proper operation.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and prepare emergency notifications.
• Assist with estimates and End-User training.
• Maintain safe work practices and clean job sites.
• Perform other duties as required.
