Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a seasoned Federal Construction Project Manager in the United States to lead all phases of large government projects. You will oversee contractors, review plans, ensure safety and compliance, mentor junior staff, and maintain formal documentation.

Domestic and international travel up to 100% may be required; U.S. citizen and ability to pass federal background checks are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required
8 years of relevant experience required
Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree
Domestic and/or international travel may be required
Must be a U.S. citizen
Able to pass a federal background check
Ability to read and interpret construction codes, plans, specs, and inspection requirements
Knowledge of FAR and agency-specific requirements

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, and manage all phases of Federal construction projects.
Oversee and coordinate activities of contractors and on-site personnel for quality, safety, and compliance.
Act as liaison between Federal client’s construction branch, stakeholders, and contractors.
Review and evaluate construction documents to ensure alignment with FAR and codes.
Lead pre-construction conferences, design meetings, and site inspections.
Ensure construction activities meet safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Track project performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
Mentor and train junior staff on best practices in construction management.
Prepare and maintain project documentation for submission to federal agencies.
Promote safety culture across sites, including OSHA/USACE standards.
Perform other duties as assigned
